November is Open Enrollment Month for Medicaid clients in Athens County

November is the Open Enrollment Month for all Medicaid clients in southeast Ohio, including Athens County.

November is the only month of the year that southeast Ohio residents can switch between the three managed care plans providing Medicaid coverage. All area residents who are eligible for Medicaid are strongly encouraged to look closely at the benefits of each of the plans.

Area residents are also encouraged to talk with their current physicians or health care providers to make sure their services are covered by the managed care plans.

The three companies providing the managed care plans in southeast Ohio are United Healthcare Community Plan of Ohio (formerly known as Unison), CareSource and Molina HealthCare of Ohio.

Area residents can receive information about the benefits offered by the three companies, as well as information on how to switch their Medicaid coverage by contacting the Ohio Managed Care Enrollment Center at 1-800-605-3040 or 1-800-292-3572 (TTY) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Enrollment counselors are available by phone to discuss the managed care plans, answer questions and help area residents choose the Medicaid plan that is best for them.

Area residents can also log onto the Ohio Medicaid Managed Care Enrollment Center website at www.ohiomcec.com to receive more information or to register online. The website also has tips on how to choose the managed care plan that is best for your family, as well as information on the health care providers in the region that are covered by the different managed care plans.
